Help
Everything you need to know to get the most out of Nudgr Todo.
Capture syntax
When you type a task, Nudgr automatically detects smart tags and dates. Just type naturally — no menus needed.
Area of responsibility — a role or part of your life.
Context — where or how you do it.
Project — a multi-step outcome you're working toward.
Start date — schedule when the task appears.
Due date — set a deadline for the task.
Date formats
Use any of these formats after > (start date) or >> (due date).
| >today | Start date: today |
| >tomorrow | Start date: tomorrow |
| >monday … >sunday | Start date: next weekday |
| >2026-03-15 | Start date: specific date |
| >>tomorrow | Due date: tomorrow |
| >>friday | Due date: next Friday |
You can combine both in one task: Write report >monday >>friday — starts Monday, due Friday.
Task states
Every task in Nudgr lives in one of three states.
Focus
Focus is not a state — it's a flag. Star any Next task to surface it at the top of your list. We recommend keeping your focused tasks to 5 or fewer.
Due dates
Tasks can have an optional due date — a deadline for when the work must be done.
- Set a due date in the task detail view, or use >> in the capture bar.
- Tasks due today are shown with an orange badge.
- Tasks that are overdue are shown with a red badge.
- When a task's due date arrives, it is automatically focused.
- In the Focus review, overdue tasks are pinned to the top.
Due dates on recurring rules
For recurring tasks, the recurrence pattern determines the due date. You can optionally set a lead time — how many days before the due date the task should appear.
Reviews
Nudgr offers two review flows to help you stay on top of your tasks.
Focus review — "What do I focus on today?" Shows all your focused tasks and all Next tasks in one view.
Someday review — "Is this still relevant?" Shows all your someday tasks. Swipe right to promote, left to delete.
Review notifications
In Settings → Reviews you can schedule reminders for each review:
- Focus review — Choose which days and what time. Defaults to weekdays at 08:00.
- Someday review — Choose the day, interval (every 1–4 weeks), and time.
Search
Tap the search icon to find tasks by title, note, or tag name. Results update as you type.
Area filter
Use the filter chip in the app bar to narrow views to specific areas.
- All — Show tasks from all areas (default).
- Specific areas — Select one or more @area tags.
- Unassigned — Show only tasks with no area tag.
Swipe gestures (mobile)
Move to Someday, or mark as Done.
Move to Next, or toggle Focus.
Desktop actions
Hover over a task for quick-action buttons, or right-click for a context menu. Use Settings → Desktop → Stay on top to keep Nudgr above other apps.
Keyboard shortcuts
Smart tags
Three types, each with a different prefix:
- @area — Areas of responsibility
- #context — Contexts
- +project — Projects
Tags are created automatically when you type them. Use the arrow keys and Enter to quickly pick from suggestions.
Time & effort estimates
- Time — Quick, Medium, or Long.
- Effort — Light, Medium, or Heavy.
Checklists
Checklists tab — Create and manage standalone checklists from the bottom navigation.
Templates — Create reusable templates. Items are copied, so editing the template later won't change existing checklists.
Attach to a task — Open a task's detail view and tap the checklist button.
Quantity — Add optional quantity to each item (e.g. "Milk — 2 liters").
Scan items (mobile) — Tap the camera icon to scan a printed list.
Promote to task — Long-press a checklist item to turn it into a full task.
Recurring tasks
- Choose a frequency: daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly.
- Set a start date and optionally an end date.
- Optionally set a lead time (days before due date).
Calendars
Connect — Open the menu and tap Calendars. Grant access when prompted.
Focus list — Today's events appear at the top of your Focus tab.
Open calendar — Tap any event to open your device's default calendar app.
Available on Android, iOS, and macOS.
Integrations
Tradera — Import watched auctions as tasks. Closing date becomes the due date.
Discogs — Import your wantlist as Someday tasks.
- Imported tasks are tagged automatically and show a small badge.
- Integrations sync daily and can be synced manually.
- Disconnect an integration at any time — imported tasks remain.
Offline-first sync
- Create and edit tasks anytime, even without internet.
- Changes sync across all your devices when you're back online.
